Foster Cares

Hey everyone,
I want to give tons of thanks and appreciation to Josh, Eden, Marissa, Zach, and Gerry for their work Saturday.
and thank you to Marissa for telling us about Foster Cares - which is such a cool organization. Check them out at FosterCares.org
They do quite an impressive job at helping the foster children of Georgia - and there is no other organization like them in Georgia - or really even in the whole country.

We did some glitter-abundant crafts, hung out with some tykes, sorted clothing, etc. You guys earned those service hours, for sure.

awesome job!

Induction was great! Thanks guys!

Hey everyone.
the induction ceremony the other night came off very successfully. I appreciate everyone -new members, old members, parents, and teachers - for coming to our Champlin gallery, bringing food, and looking snazzy. We gave all the inductees certificates and the NAHS flower (red carnation). Ms. Sweat said some inspiring words, as did Mr. Nick, our guest speaker. We very much appreciate him coming to talk and spend the evening with us. Congratulations, guys!

See you guys tomorrow at the Foster Cares kids crafts session!

Hey everyone,

Some Information About Who We Are:

In 1978 the National Art Education Association (NAEA) began the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) program specifically for high school students, for the purpose of inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art. The NAHS strives to aid members in working toward the attainment of the highest standards in art areas, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.
  • We are creative students striving to spread the arts
  • We do art-related volunteering and community work. We have beautified our school, donated art to hospitals, created art for charity auctions, etc.
  • We enter our artwork in competitions, juried shows, festivals, and art sales at our school's Champlin Art Gallery.
  • We consistently send members of our society to Georgia Governor's Honor Program with a major in Visual Arts
More Reasons To Join?
  1. Students become members of a distinguished group of over 33,000 art students.
  2. Students are eligible for the Rising Star Secondary Recognition Award.
  3. Students are eligible to receive the Charles M. Robertson Memorial Scholarship -- a special four-year scholarship to Pratt Institute School of Art and Design in New York.
  4. Students will not only receive NAHS News twice a year, but will also have an opportunity to have their achievements featured in the issues.
  5. Impress colleges! Institutions of higher education view the NAHS as a mark of accomplishment.

Painting Adirondacks

The Adirondack committee painted 2 handmade chairs for a charity auction. The Miracle Ball and art auction, held in October at the Mason Murer Fine Arts Gallery, benefited The Link Community Counseling Center.
